Our Charter

Founded in 2007, the PA EMS Provider Foundation was created to serve the Pennsylvania emergency medical services community, to ensure public confidence in emergency medical services, to develop the next generation of emergency medical services providers, educate the public of their services and generally to further the cause of Pennsylvania emergency medical services through education, outreach and philanthropy. The Foundation will support the welfare of Pennsylvania emergency medical services providers and will serve other proper functions of a charitable, public foundation as needed.

Develop the Next Generation – Scholarships

The Foundation awards scholarships in support of EMT’s becoming Paramedics or AEMT’s.  Improving the number of advanced care providers is critical to the success of EMS in the Commonwealth.

Support the Welfare of Providers and Their Families

Families - Over 70 PA EMS providers lost their lives in service to others.  While we strive to eliminate tragedy, should a family ever be in need, the Foundation is there to help providing Family Grants – immediate financial assistance in the event of a Line of Duty Death (LODD).  Future goal? – provide scholarships in support of post high-school education for the children of LODD EMS providers.

Providers - The Foundation shares the concern about the emotional toll EMS can impact on our providers.  We endeavor with others to improve the wellness of our colleagues.

Events and Fundraising

The Foundation hosts the annual PA EMS Weekend of Recognition and Remembrance.  The ‘Weekend’ consists of 3 events.

  • PA EMS Memorial Service - honors the lives of PA EMS providers who died in the line of duty.  Since the early beginnings of EMS in the Commonwealth, over 70 PA EMS providers lost their lives in service to others.  The memorial service is held at the State Capitol building in Harrisburg.
  • Stars of Life Awards Banquet – a Class A Uniform/business attire affair, the event recognizes Pennsylvania’s exemplary EMS providers as identified by their leadership or peers, with Stars of Life awards.  The banquet also recognizes recipients of scholarships awarded by the Foundation.
  • PA EMS Memorial Bike Ride – a cycling event honoring the service, sacrifice and memory of PA EMS providers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.  Cyclists ride 150 miles over 3 days, arriving at the State Capitol for the memorial service.

Sponsors of the PA EMS Weekend of Recognition and Remembrance are the Foundation’s primary source of funding.  Would you support the Foundation as a Sponsor?                Sponsor Here
